Fred Ainsworth started the Ainsworth agency in 1910. Pictured is its 11th Street office, West of the Monroe square. James Gordee purchased the Ainsworth Agency from Herb Ainsworth in 1965. The agency retained the Ainsworth name until 1970 when Jim Gordee merged with the Zuercher & Zuercher Agency becoming the Gordee & Zuercher Insurance Agency. Robert Zuercher and his sister Rose insured clients dating back to 1928. The agency name changed to the Gordee Insurance Agency in 1981. Over time other agencies were added the last was the Coplien Agency in 1988. The agency is located at 1118 17th Avenue, one half block South of the square, downtown Monroe.
